The current configuration targets 60 fps by default.

Select Camera Profile → BUNSHIN DeckLink.

Do not force resolution, frame rate, MJPG/YUY2 format, or DirectShow/Media Foundation. The DeckLink backend detects the incoming signal and uses the detected mode.

USB workflow

Hardware connection

Windows must recognize the capture device as a camera. A previous project configuration identifies it as HDMI USB Camera. The USB path uses a standard Windows video device.

Camera setup

  1. Start YANUS LIVE PRO.

  2. Open the required Camera Slot.

  3. Set the source to Camera.

  4. Select Camera Profile → BUNSHIN Headcam.

  5. Select the connected USB capture device.

  6. Confirm the recommended settings.

  7. Connect the camera.

  8. Confirm live video, face tracking, orientation, and stable frame rate.

Why 1024 × 768 at 60 fps

Facial capture prioritizes stable 60 fps, lower latency, reduced CPU/GPU overhead, fast facial response, and sufficient landmark detail. Use 1024 × 768 @ 60 fps for USB BUNSHIN capture. Stable frame rate is generally more valuable than unnecessarily high resolution.

Historical documentation also shows AJA U-TAP SDI and HyperDeck Studio configurations. Use tested hardware. Capture interfaces can behave differently.

Required software

Install Blackmagic Desktop Video 14.2 or later. YANUS LIVE PRO uses the Blackmagic runtime to enumerate and communicate with native DeckLink hardware. Restart Windows after installation or driver updates.

  1. Select Camera Profile → BUNSHIN DeckLink in the Camera Slot.

  2. Select the corresponding DeckLink input.

  3. Confirm the live image and face tracking.

Typical entries are DeckLink input [SDI] and DeckLink input [HDMI]. Each physical input is an independent camera source. One Camera Slot does not silently switch to another input.

Resolution and frame rate

DeckLink detects the camera output automatically.

Detected modes can include 1920 × 1080 @ 59.94, 1920 × 1080 @ 60, 1920 × 1080 @ 30, 1280 × 720 @ 59.94, and 1280 × 720 @ 60. Configure the mode at the camera, wireless receiver, or converter. Do not force it in YANUS LIVE PRO.

Connection states

The input is ready when video appears and facial tracking begins.

Signal and device states

NO SDI SIGNAL / NO HDMI SIGNAL

The DeckLink device exists, but no valid video signal is arriving. This does not necessarily mean the card failed.

Check the chain in this order:

  1. BUNSHIN camera power.

  2. Teradek TX power.

  3. Teradek RX power.

  4. Wireless link status.

  5. SDI or HDMI cable.

  6. Converter output.

  7. DeckLink input port.

FORMAT CHANGING

This temporary state can appear after resolution, frame rate, scan type, or color format changes.

A short interruption is normal. An example is 1080p 59.94 → 720p 59.94.

DEVICE MISSING / UNAVAILABLE

This differs from NO SIGNAL. NO SIGNAL means the card is present without an incoming signal. DEVICE MISSING / UNAVAILABLE means the card cannot be accessed.

Check Windows Device Manager, Blackmagic Desktop Video Setup, device status, PCIe installation, driver installation, and restart Windows.

HDMI support and aspect ratio

YANUS LIVE PRO uses the same DeckLink backend for SDI and HDMI capture.

Use BUNSHIN DeckLink. HDMI-only hardware uses an HDMI input automatically. SDI-only hardware uses an SDI input. On unusual multi-connector hardware, Blackmagic Desktop Video may select the active connector.

Some converters place a 4:3 source in a 16:9 HDMI frame. The face may look stretched and tracking quality may drop. Select Source Shape → 4:3. Use Source Shape → Off when the image already has correct proportions.

Interlaced video

An interlaced source, such as 1920 × 1080i, can display correctly but may cause combing artifacts and reduced landmark stability. Configure the source or converter for 1080p or 720p Progressive whenever possible.

Camera hot-swap behavior

Event
Expected behavior

USB camera disconnected

Reconnecting → same device rediscovered → Connected

DeckLink signal cable disconnected

NO SIGNAL → same DeckLink device remains assigned

DeckLink card removed or disabled

Device Missing → Reconnecting / Unavailable

When the original device returns, the same stable device reconnects. A Camera Slot does not adopt a different physical camera automatically.

Recording guidance

Do not change camera hardware while recording a Take unless necessary.

Avoid unplugging USB devices, changing DeckLink assignments, disabling capture cards, or replacing a source during recording. This maintains consistent Take metadata and media.

Advanced diagnostics

This section is for administrators and developers.

Runtime configuration:

The repository-root config.json is a developer working file. It is not the deployed runtime configuration.

Log locations:

The current configuration uses target FPS 60, recording-relative timecode, the system clock as master clock, playback alignment, and 2 ms synchronization tolerance.

Field verification

For a new BUNSHIN / DeckLink system:

  1. Confirm the DeckLink device appears and assign Camera Slot 1.

  2. Verify the live image and stable frame rate for at least two minutes.

  3. Disconnect the SDI/HDMI cable and confirm NO SIGNAL.

  4. Reconnect after about one minute and confirm Locked / Connected.

  5. Change source resolution or frame rate and confirm automatic detection.

  6. Disable and re-enable the DeckLink card.

  7. Confirm reconnection to the same physical input.

  8. Test a USB camera and DeckLink camera simultaneously.

  9. Record a short Take and verify the expected video and metadata files.

For a four-input DeckLink HDMI system, assign each HDMI input to a different Camera Slot. Disconnect HDMI 1 and confirm only Camera Slot 1 loses signal. Run all four inputs for 30 minutes, repeat reconnect tests, then record a short Take using all inputs.

Historical hardware recommendations

Earlier BUNSHIN documentation lists these reference configurations:

  • AJA U-TAP SDI + BUNSHIN HMC Pro

  • HyperDeck Studio + BUNSHIN HMC Pro

HyperDeck Studio can operate independently of PC performance. Ethernet provides control, while USB can send video to the PC for display. These are historical configurations. YANUS LIVE PRO also has a native DeckLink camera path.

Operating summary

  • USB: Use BUNSHIN Headcam with 1024 × 768, 60 fps, MJPG, and Media Foundation.

  • DeckLink: Use BUNSHIN DeckLink with Blackmagic Desktop Video and automatic input detection.

  • Before REC: Verify video, tracking, signal state, and audio.
